For some, the idea of girls playing paintball means models showing off the latest, greatest paintball gadgets. However, there are girls who actually get down and dirty and play the game. According to a reliable source, 20 percent of the beginning players are female. If you are a woman who wants to get involved, then you need to know a few things before you suit up and get out there.

Do not let anyone else's attitude get to you or discourage you. When you step out on that field, you are just as good as anyone else, even if some want to give you grief. Some guys out there still see it as a guys' sport, even though women have made the mainstream. Some people still hold sexist attitudes about what kind of sports girls should and should not play. To them, "Girls play with Barbies, boys play with guns." Some girls enjoy hockey, mixed martial arts, boxing and a variety of other combat sports, but some do not. If you enjoy it, then do not let it stop you from pursuing your goal.

Get the right gear. Masks are a must-have; make sure your mask covers both side of your head and gives your eyes the best protection possible. Also make sure they have anti-fog protection to make it easier to see the flying paint and run from it. In addition, make sure you have good protection for your chest area because a paintball game has a high risk for injury. You are also going to need to look for a good gun. All these factors depend on your preference. A good paintball supply shop can provide you with a gun to meet your needs. They can also help you find the right kind of paint and supplies. They are there to help you with any questions you need; most people who work in a paintball store are players themselves. They have years of experience and knowledge from which you can learn.

Learn to stay quiet and hide. Paintball is a game of strategic moves; frequently, the best attacks are the ones that occur when you cross another player's paths. Keep your moves soft and subtle. Under no circumstances should you announce your position to the enemy. Keep your eyes open for when you can make a move. As soon as you see the opportunity to make a move, take advantage of it.

Ask for advice. Paintball is a very sociable sport. Other players can help you learn more about the game, the equipment, and the best strategies to protect yourself, as long as you are willing to listen. Most importantly, you need to have fun and enjoy your new hobby. If you are not having fun, then why are you playing paintball?

If you are a girl, then a step into a Paintball game may prove difficult at first. However, with the right supplies, mindset and advice, you are sure to make the sport your new hobby if you are interested enough.Remember to ask for help and use the resources around you to learn about the game and the skills you need to succeed. As soon as you have all the weapons in your physical and mental arsenal easily accessible, your love affair with paintball is ready to start.

Females often take part in activities that shatter stereotypes. Paintballing is simply another example of this. Beyond that, however, the way to become a good paintball player is the same for males and females. Defeating sexist attitudes means accepting this as a norm, not having to acknowledge its significance.
