FAQs About Paintball Safety

Paintball is a game that many people thoroughly enjoy. There are certain rules and regulations associated with the sport, as is the case with most sports. Safety is an important factor that is considered within the framework of the rules. Some FAQs about paintball safety are covered here.

Q: How safe is paintball?
A: In comparison to other games like football, basketball or even fishing, paintball is safer. There are some safety precautions that help to prevent injuries during the game. For instance, players must wear paintball masks, barrel plugs are utilized and limits on paintball gun velocities are imposed to make this sport as safe as possible. Paintball players normally only incur minor injuries like ankle sprains or scratches from falling in the woods.
Q: Does paintball hurt?
A: Yes, it hurts sometimes. Various factors influence the amount of pain inflicted, such as the speed of ball, the area that is impacted, whether or not the paintball breaks and the kind of clothing the player wears. Sometimes a player will not even feel a hit, whereas other hits may cause pain for one or two days. More serious injuries may occur at times, although this happens very rarely. If you are prone to injury and/or sensitive to pain, it is wise to wear layers or use a vest. This will cushion any impacts, making them less likely to be painful.
Q: Should I wear a mask?
A: Yes, you should wear masks at all times. You should not play paintball without wearing a mask. Even if the dead zone is within range of the field, you should not remove your mask in the dead zone. Remember that this rule is mandatory. You should keep masks on until barrel plugs have been placed back on all loaded guns. Always keep in mind that most brutal paintball injuries occur when players remove their masks during a game.
